The novel details the adventures of three English brothers who enlist separately in the French Foreign Legion following the theft of a valuable jewel from the country house of a relative. The three Geste brothers, Michael, Digby (Michael's twin) and John are orphans, brought up by their aunt, Lady Patricia, at her country house. When the priceless jewel 'The Blue Water' goes missing, attention is turned to the three brothers and their friends. Feeling the heat, Michael runs off to join the French Foreign Legion in Algeria where he is soon joined by his brothers. And that's where their real adventures begin…
